Dad says it's my turn to write you a letter......but I just sent one so now I don't know what to talk about since it's in the letter and if I respond to what's in the letter then you have nothing to write back about....in your letter....

Obvious questions.....How's the weather? Companion? Food? Are you cold? Hot? Jacket? Shoes? Spirit? EVERYTHING IS GOING GREAT, I HAVE SO MUCH LEFT OVER FOOD FROM THE FUNERAL IN OUR WARD. DONT WORY IT WAS NOBODY I KNOW, BUT THE LADY THAT WAS THERE GAVE US ROCKS TO REMEMBER TOM. SO I WILL BE SENDING KYLEE THE "DEAD TOM" ROCK... IT IS JUST SILLY AND DEMENTED ENOUGH TO BE FUNNY FOR HER. HAHAHA I HAVE BEEN COLD BUT TODAY ITS 60 SO OFF WITH THE JAKET FOR TODAY... I AM PLAYING FOOTBALL!!! AND GUITAR AT THE MUSIC STORE. BE PROUD OF ME!! I HAVE NOT BEEN INTO THE BIKE SHOP FOR A MONTH!!!! THANK GOODNESS FOR FULLY FUNCTIONING BIKES! BUT I AM RALY GOING TO BABY THE NEW BOTTOM BRACKET... UMMM. O YA. I HAD BRIANNAS BAPTISM AND THE WATTER WAS SO HOT THAT IT SCALDED ME FROM THE WAIST DOWN. LUCKLY IT WAS ONLY MILED AND I WAS FINE IN 2 DAYS... AND THEN WE WERE DOING AN OBJECT LESSON(ELDER BEANS IDEA) AND THE END RESULT WAS ME CHORCHING MY INDEX FINGER AND THE SPACE BEETWEEN THE INDEX KNUCKLE AND THE THUMB. I CALED THE MISSION NURSE "AGAIN "AND TOLD HER THAT I WAS HAVING A BAD WEEK. BUT I WAS FORTUNATE TO AQUIRE PERSCRIPTION BURN OINTMENT FROM A NURSE IN OUR WARD AND IT IS HEALY BEAUTIFULY!!! SO NO NEED TO WORRY. BUT I HAD THE ROOT CANAL THE NEXT DAY.. THEY WERE IN ME FOR 2 HRS.!!!! THAT AFTERNOON WAS THE FIRST TIME I GOT REALLY TRUNKY AND FOR ABOUT 2MIN THOUGHT ABOUT GOING HOME. THEN I CAME TO MY SENSES AND HAN MY COMP SLAP ME AND ALL WAS WELL. I LOVE MISSION SUPPORT. THE BONDS I AM MAKING AND THE FAVORS I AM AQUIERING. I HAVE NOW A MACANIC THAT WILL FIX ME UP FOR FREE, A VP AT BMW WHO HAS PROMISED ME 35% OFF A USED BMW AFTER THE MISH. (HE IS ALSO GOING TO TAKE US ON A TEST RIDE IN THE NEW 5 SERIES) I CANT WAIT. BUT DONT WORRY ITS JUST A TEST DRIVE. I SPECIFIED NO RACING OR CRAZY STUFF.. I ALSO HAVE OUR NEW WARM MISSION LEADER WHO BUILDS CUSTOM GIBSON GUITARS AND SAYS HE WILL SEND ME ONE AFTER THE MISH. AND THIS IS JUST MY GREENY AREA. HAHA UMM. I DONT KNOW IF YOU GOT THE PICS FROM JAN MONTEZ.. SHE IS ALOT LIKE YOU. ALSO THE WARD MISSION LEADER MOVED... SAD DAY. BUT HE LEFT ME WITH A BUNCH OF GOOD STUFF. LIKE A MASSAGE PAD...AND SOME SWEET TIES. I AM IN LOVE WITH TIES... I AM UP TO 112 MEMORIZED SCRIPTURES. I FEEL SO ACOMPLISHED TO HAVE PASSSED 100!!
Hey I'm 4 pounds closer to my goal weight! I had the flu for 2 days and UGH! kill me dead! Then Kylee came home with it...puked in the street and the driveway....NASTY! Kasey had it a few days before me....we're hoping since Dad had all that "service" waiting on us all being sick that he'll be immune this go around.HAHA NICE.. I AM TRYING TO SLOW DOWN ON THE WEIGHT GAINING TOO. I DONT WANT TO HAVE TO GET NEW SUITS..IM AT 145 NOW STARTED AT 120
SO.....Kelsey's baptism went well. I met 2 sister missionaries. They were cool. We chatted and goofed around for the whole baptism...so irreverent....doesn't sound like me at all! :/ Anyway....then afterwards I kept getting the impression that I should ask for their parents addresses so that I could write to them and tell them , from an outsiders point of view, how their missionary is doing. It took some working up to do....but I did it! So I came home and emailed their parents.....one sister has been out for over a year and the other just 4 months. Both parents were SO happy to get my email. They agreed that our missionaries probibly only tell us what we want to hear, so it was nice to hear if from a different perspective. The one mom liked that I reported on things a mom wants to know....I said that she looked good, was in good spirits, her clothes were in good condition and she really "loves" what she's doing. She's from Portland.....so now we have a little connection. Kinda cool how that works! THATS SO SWEET. THE GOSPEL GIVES US SUCH A GOOD FELLOWSHIP.. I LOVE IT SO MUCH, ESPECIALY BEING ABLE TO SHARE IT. I USE TO LOVE BASHING WITH PEOPLE.. AND I GOT REALLY GOOD AT MAKING ALOT OF PASTORS LOOK REALY STUPID WHEN NOT ONLY NEW WHAT THEY WERE TALKING ABOUT THE BIBLE AND KNEW IT BETTER THAN THEM. BUT KNOW HOW TO PROVE THEM WRONG. BUT I STARTED REALIZING THAT THE SPIRIT ISENT THERE. SO I JUST TELL THEM THAT" I DIDDENT CAME HERE TO ARGUE OR CONVINCE YOU... I AM HEARE TO SHARE THE MESSAGE OF THE RESTORED GOSPEL WITH ALL WHO ARE WILLING TO RECIVE IT.. HAVE A NICE DAY." AND WHEN WE GET THE REALLY AGRESSIVE AND ANTAGONISTIC..BORDERLINE VIOLENT.. AND SCREAMING IN MY FACE PASTORS I JUST SAY. "SIR.. I AM DISAPOINTED.. I EXPECTED MORE PROFESIONAL BEAHAVIOR FROM A PASTOR OF THE LORD.. I HOPE THAT YOU TEACH YOUR CONGREGATION TO EXERCISE CHRISTLIKE BEHAVIOR THAN YOU HAVE SHOWN ME"(OR SOMTHING TO THAT EFFECT) AND THEN THIS ONE TOLD ME THAT I HAD NO IDEA WHO CHRIST WAS ALONG WITH SOME OTHER VERY HATEFUL THINGS. They both are now inspired to write to the parents of the missionaries in their wards. Maybe we'll start a trend! Novel thought....I'm sure ward members write to missionary parents all the time....don't they???? Anyway...just thought I'd share!

Grandma is on the mend. Don't know where we left off on her. Played musical hospitals for like a week....surgery here...procedure there..everywhere she could visit a Dr. she did! They thought she had an infection in her knee but came to find out that it had a small fracture from one of her many falls....she finally passed some stones....the knee is getting better....
Pa is on medication for that weird hacking cough he has......

The ward is doing well. Hey the Howell's are expecting a boy! They like the name Skylar. I'm like..."ya it's a good name"...and Howell was like.."no...I'm serious". Long pause.....

IT WEIGHS 4 POUNDS AND IS STRONGER THAN A STEEL ONE. HE GOT IT FROM A MISSIONARY A WHILE BACK. WE HAVE PRAYPAINTED IT TO LOOK REALY UGLY AND CHEEP AS A THEFT DETERENT, (BY THE WAY MY HEADLIGHT GOT STOLEN!!!) AND OF CHORES THE FRONT DERAILER AND SHIFTERS I HAD ARNT COMPATABLE. BUT ON THE BRIGHT SIDE I WILL BE ABLE TO PUT 50 BACK INTO THE ACCOUNT TODAY PROBABLY. I COULDENT USE THE WALMART CARD BUT A MISSIONARY TRADED ME CASH FOR IT TO HELP ME OUT. THATS WERE HE DOES HIS SHOPPING!! AND I SAVED LABOR CHARGES BY HAVING A MEMBER WHO WORKED IN A BIKE SHOP SHOW ME HOW TO ASSENBLE MY BIKE! I CAN NOW BUILD A BIKE FROM SCRACH! AND THE GUYS AT THE SHOP SAID I DID GOOD!! I JUST NEED TO LEARN WHO TO AJUST GEARING. I BOUGHT THE SHIFTERS AND THEY LET ME USE THE SHOP TO PUT THEM ON. THEY HAVE MADE THE WHOLE ORDEAL ALOT EASYER. BUT I AM LIVING OF THE SUBWAY CARDS FROM GRAMA AND I AM KILLING OF WHATEVERS LEFT IN THE PANTRY. NOT JUST BECAUSE IM POOR BUT BECAUSE ITS THE LAST WEEK OF TRANSFERS AND I AM NOT GOING SHOPPING JUST TO GET TRANSFERED!! I NEED TO DO WHAT NEEDS TO GET DONE AND JUST SHOW HIM LOVE AND SUPPORT HIS RITIOUS ACTIONS. I HAVE TO ADMIT I HAVE SLACKE DOF A LITTLE. IT HARD WHEN YOU KNOW THAT UNLESS YOU DECIDE TO GO AND DO SOMTHING IT WONT GET DONE. ITS REALY EASY TO SAY "I THINK WE HAVE DONE ENOUGH TODAY" ESPECIALY WHEN HE IS NICER WHEN I AGREE TO SIT AROUND. IT IS WORTH IT TO NOT HAVE TO DEAL WITH IT.THE RIMS AND REAR DERAILER ARE LITTERALT THE ONLY ORIGIONAL PARTS. MY FRAME WENT TO CRAP THIS WEEK! :( LUCKLY THERE WAS A MEMBER THAT GAVE ME A BIKE FRAME THAT HE WAS NOT GOING TO USE. ITS REALY NICE. ALUMINUM/ CARBON FIBER. IT WEIGHS 4 POUNDS AND IS STRONGER THAN A STEEL ONE. HE GOT IT FROM A MISSIONARY A WHILE BACK. Have you had any great experiences this week? Gonzo gave a good lesson on Sunday on the growth of the church and how important it is to be a missionary.
Hope that you are well and in good spirits, keep smiling and giving off that glow. I know that the lord will bring those that are ready to you to hear his message.
The spirit will guide you if your in tune so I would tell you that just as you need your bike working right to get from place to place, that the lord needs you working

Hello My Favorite Nephew!
How are things going this week? How are you feeling? I hope things are well. We miss you and love you.
Things here have been good and very busy. We went to the temple on Friday, it was so nice--we did sealings. Of course we had to stop at Casa and get Mexican food (I hate to tell you that because I'll bet OR Mexican food is not the same as Casa). Friday night we had our ward Halloween Party. It was very fun. Then on Saturday we had a surprise birthday party for Kelsey. It was so fun and she was so surprised (you can see pics on our blog--take a look). Then of course, Sundays are busy. I'm teaching primary now and I have 13 kids ages 4 and 5--wow, it's an adventure. After church, Kelsey had her baptism interview with the bishop, we had Grandma and Grandpa Slade over for dinner and then our home teachers came. This week should be a whirlwind week as we have soccer practice and games, prepare for Kelsey's baptism on Saturday, and then a convert baptism later that evening. CRAZY!
Hey, the Mesa distribution center did not have your size in thermal garments so I ordered them and had them shipped directly to you. So watch for them. My suggestion is to just open one set and see if they fit and if you like them. If not, we can return the unopened ones. If you like them let me know and we'll send you some more sets.
A lady that we met in Mesa last weekend was a friend of an Elder Ferrin in your mission--I guess he passed away last week of a brain aneurysm? I That's so terrible. Did you know him? NO I DIDENT BUT THERE IS ALOT OF AZ BOYS OUT HERE IM SURE A FEW DID. BUT WHAT A SMALL WORLD

Good morning, How was your week?IT WAS GOOD. I GOT ALOT DONE AND I WAS GLAD TO SEE ELDER BEAN TAKE MORE INISIATIVE

He seems to flatten us back out and reforms us to be what he wants us to be.
I feel like he has done just that with me several times in my life and maybe this is the way in which we are perfected.

He was telling of how there is not a day that goes by that he doesn't think of his mission and the strength that is gives him.

This week has definitely been a trying week. We have been stood up for allot of appointments and allot of investigators are dodging us. We have been asked by the Bishop to contact all of the unknown members on the ward list, so amen to trackting time for the week. which is a shame because lately I've really enjoyed it. Elder Hawkins and I use to have allot of fun with it. Brianna still has a date for this weekend and i feel like she will be ready, but something doesn't feel right. I will prayerfully consider why. Dawna is also back in town and sill smoking. But we are getting there! slowly but surely.
AJ will be attending church as soon as the Bishop meets with him. i think he is making remarkable progress. However, i cannot say the same for Aqua and Titus. They are fighting more than ever. We walked into the home for our lesson and i could feel the absence of the spirit. and it was very sad to see.
Elder Bean still seems to be very tired all the time...I'm not sure if that's just what happens after 15 months or if its just him. I definitely feel like the Lord is testing my willingness to obey and to work, regardless of the circumstances. I, at times, have a hard time staying motivated.I feel the responsibility to be the one to say "lets go out and work" but its hard to have an effective planning when he doesn't care what we do. I hope that things will get better. But he has a good heart and i know that deep down there is a missionary that will work miracles! I just need to help him realize that.
I am doing pretty good. still memorizing scriptures, still trying to work hard, and still fighting to be obedient. Even if it means that i have to stand alone. I am studying in PMG ch 3. in lesson 2 there is a list of chapters. I am reading through all of those to get familiar with the assignments i leave my investigators. As well as trying to think about how people of other faiths might interpret sections i read from the bible.

This week has definitely been a trying week. We have been stood up for allot of appointments and allot of investigators are dodging us. We have been asked by the Bishop to contact all of the unknown members on the ward list, so amen to trackting time for the week. which is a shame because lately I've really enjoyed it. Elder Hawkins and I use to have allot of fun with it. Brianna still has a date for this weekend and i feel like she will be ready, but something doesn't feel right. I will prayerfully consider why. Dawna is also back in town and sill smoking. But we are getting there! slowly but surely.
AJ will be attending church as soon as the Bishop meets with him. i think he is making remarkable progress. However, i cannot say the same for Aqua and Titus. They are fighting more than ever. We walked into the home for our lesson and i could feel the absence of the spirit. and it was very sad to see.
Elder Bean still seems to be very tired all the time...I'm not sure if that's just what happens after 15 months or if its just him. I definitely feel like the Lord is testing my willingness to obey and to work, regardless of the circumstances. I, at times, have a hard time staying motivated.I feel the responsibility to be the one to say "lets go out and work" but its hard to have an effective planning when he doesn't care what we do. I hope that things will get better. But he has a good heart and i know that deep down there is a missionary that will work miracles! I just need to help him realize that.
I am doing pretty good. still memorizing scriptures, still trying to work hard, and still fighting to be obedient. Even if it means that i have to stand alone. I am studying in PMG ch 3. in lesson 2 there is a list of chapters. I am reading through all of those to get familiar with the assignments i leave my investigators. As well as trying to think about how people of other faiths might interpret sections i read from the bible.

It's so funny how your contacts....are gettin' outta prison....have to check with their parole officer....dang "sketchy" is right!!!! Need some pepper spray???? Insense dude?

i kind of do. but not about everything hahaha. i am still trying to get more scriptures memorized. i just passed 50. my goal is to have all mission 150 done by the end of the month and then i am going to memorize the chapter headings of each chapter as well as the hymn book before the mish is over. memorization has become a hobby of mine. haha.
so. by bike broke down and it is a 10 year old bike so everything had to be changed out. but the bike shop has assured me that i should not have a problem with the bike in the next 5 years. and all parts are warrantied. so i am all set for the mission. thax for all the support you guys give me. I really thought about it while listening to Elder Hollands Talk on gratitude and how much his family did for him to serve. i will never be able to repay you guys of all of the others who are doing so much for me to be out here. I will send you pics of the baptism as soon as i can!! My comp gets more packages than i do. (well that just won't do now will it??!!! ha ha ha) and he has 4 girls writing him. i only have 2....kind of......but not really. haha We are getting along better. but he still is on the lazy and "the rules are lame" rut. but we are working on that. we also worked out a little plan. he cooks and i clean. i would be cleaning anyways but this way i get some omelets out of it. i have balanced my weight out at 140 and am doing allot of sit ups. the vanilla protein from you and the blender ball grama sent was a life saver. i use it every day. i put in a yogurt, powder and milk and i have a delicious breakfast shake. YAAAAA Budy!!
The mission rocks and conference was awesome. there were some good reprimandations that i needed and some good helps for the family. sorry kylee but you will thank mom and dad later. haha. i had an awesome spiritual experience this week.
It all started with a spiritual thought given in PEC. the man talked about how someone on a plane gave him a band aid witch he considered to be a tender mercy from the lord. i thought that was a little weird... but just the other day i saw that i needed toothpaste a new toothbrush and had a brief thought that i could realy put some rubber bands to good use. Shortly after i received a package in the mail. it was from Grama. when i opened the box i found some breath freshening items along with a small heartfelt note. after reading the note i continued to look through the box and found a tube of toothpaste, a toothbrush and a small package of rubber bands. I did not think much of it at the time but this morning when i was studying it hit me. the package i received was not only a gift from a loving grandmother, but a tender mercy from loving heavenly father. The spirit filled me and I knew immidiatly what the young mens leader in PEC was talking about. The lord knows us individually, he loves us, he knows our needs and our wants, the desires of out hearts, our unspoken crys for help. He will take care of us. Those items, though easily attainable by other means were a reminder to me of gods love. I know that He works through others to preform small but equally as powerful miracles for his children.
I thought about this and was so thankful.

We are having an open house at the stake center this weekend, with booths with all areas of the church being represented. The cubs and scouts from are
Ward are going to man the booths. I think it's probably because we have the best programs running in the stake. Maybe I'm just partial.HAHA MAybe we just rock
I am writing my testimony in one of the book of Mormons that they are giving out. It's been along time since I wrote mine down, hope it helps someone
To read it. I know it will! when we testify so does the spirit.
Any disappointments?Ya!! fast sunday no dinner apt!! cheezeits i is. and 5 fetching peoples dogged us. i will be a pro at getting rejected when i get home!
Just remember that things happen in the lords time and not ours. We are studding about Joanna and how the people that he was sent to teach seamed
So wicked and unchangeable to him that he tryed to run from his calling. the lord knew that the people would change and even though Joanna didn't have the
Faith at the time his message was resieved.
I think that we all feel that way at times in our lives and at that time we re lie on faith and do what we our lead by the spirit to do.
We also have a dedication on the new building this Sunday and It's Ward confrence so it looks like It will be a busy week.
The time here seems like it is just fling by and things just seam to be falling into place. Hope that it's the same for you there.

However he still has some concers about coming to church, i don't know what they are yet but i think that he is just unfamilier with latter day saint services. we also taught Brianna McCloud. She has a date set but does not want to leave her home cdecision.
We also had the oppertunity to teach Tina and Fred, She is less-active and he is interested in the church. we had a powerful lesson with them and he wants to become a better person, i can't wait to teach him about the clensing power of the atonement.

I Have been doing alot of study in the new testement and am finding some great stuff. the gospel is becoming more clear every day. I love studying the words of christ and am still memorizing alot of scriptures. My teaching is improving every day as i pray for charity and for boldness. My goals for this upcoming week are to more effectivly identify and resolve peoples concerns.

I am so glad things are going good for you guys. this week i have read the ensign allot and am loving it. I have also put alot of thought into what i want to be. i have been tossing around the idea of being a teacher. and came up Worth this plan. i get home in June and i will work and save money and write some music until Christmas and then i will go and get my generals done. if music doesn't work out then i will see what it takes to get into recording and production of music. those will all be elective classes. meanwhile i will get some teaching classes in and i will see what i like best. I know that i don't want to teach music, i want to teach a core subject. i have been putting alot of thought into teaching seminary! that would be super sweet. then i would be able to keep myself spiritually intact and be able to make a difference in peoples life's.

This week has Been Great, We are working really hard to help Elder Hawkins finish strong.
This week we taught Brianna McCloud, Trini Areola, and Richard Abo. Still not finding any apparent concerns, I think that Richard will open up when we are able to bring a Marshaleese brother with us.There is definitely a language barrier.
We were also able to teach the Johnson this week. They are a less active family in the ward. They struggle financially but we have promised them that by attending church they will find that things will work for there benefit.
Elder Hawkins, 7 days and counting. i can't believe it. I am Going to miss him so much. I know that he has served well and will be a great husband and father. i accredit everything that i may become as a missionary to the things he has taught me.....And the Spirit. he has helped me to develop effective study and teaching habits as well as establish a great pattern of obedience. I think that that is the primary role of a father. in the mission and outside.
I am doing so great, everything is starting to click, I have memorized about 25 scriptures in the past month and am getting better at teaching people not lessons, and recognizing the promptings of the Spirit.

How is everyone doing? We are doing good here in Nevada. I just got done looking a Skylars blog and it sounds like he is doing really good. I can't believe how much he is grown in the gospel. I even got teary eyed reading some of his letters. It is awesome to hear him always testifying and to see the love he has for the gospel and not only the gospel but for his family. As I read his letters I looked back to when he was 14 and I look at him now. What a GREAT man he has become. I am grateful to be a small part of his growing up and for the example that Skylar has set for his friends and not only his friends but also for Brother Mowers. This week we have had allot of appointments fall through. But we were able to teach Brianna Mccloud, who also attended church on Sunday, and had a great experience. She is receiving everything really well and i think that she will be ready for baptism on the 2nd of October. Bailey Tadlock is also progressing very well. He just has a really hard time getting involved because his parents arn't committed. Its so important that the parents are committed. I know that the lord set up families for those principals to be taught and the family need to be centered around the gospel.
We also began teaching a new sister named Patti who wants to get back into church but has some word of wisdom and doctrinal issues. But she has really opened up and showed us a desire to learn and as she does that i know that she will be taught by the spirit all that she needs to know.
Elder Bean is doing great. He expressed to me that he is excited to be in an area with a missionary who is ready to work. his goals are to listen to the Spirit more carefully and to not let laziness take over.
I am doing really good as well. i will miss Elder Hawkins but am excited to apply all the things he has taught me into my work. I know that without him around i will need to step up and focus even more. I am still memorizing allot of scriptures and trying to find ways to have more effective study. Thank you for all that you and Sis. Dychs do. Please let me know if there is anything i can do to better serve the mission.

Well this week wasn't what i expected it to be like. although i have been able to apply the things that Elder Hawkins has taught me i am having a difficult time getting situated with Elder Bean. We have 2 baptisms scheduled for this weekend. One with Brianna and another with Bailey Tadlock. They are doing great and all of their concerns seem to be resolved. Other than them we haven't had any investigators making any progress.
Collect the Elect Has brought forth allot of success lately! Yesterday was Fast Sunday and i was really depressed all week about not having anyone new to teach. But we recited a referral for a girl that has just been released from prison and wants to get her life strait, as well as a girl who is a fried of a member. She got up and bore her testimony about the church being an answer to her prayers and we will be teaching her this week!!
I think Elder Bean is trying to do better, he told me that his last couple transfers have been kind of hard. I told him to leave it behind and we will do great. He has some difficulties keeping the morning schedule and staying motivated and optimistic throughout the day but we are working on that. I now appreciate more than ever having a companion as obedient and hardworking as Elder Hawkins. He relay prepared me and taught me that it it better to be trusted than loved. and that there is no excuse for disobedience. I hope that i can find a way to help Elder Bean restore his fire. It takes 2 to Do the work.
I am doing Really good. I am Getting better at teaching and can feel the spirit is able to use me more and more. I know that as long as i am obedient and desire the welfare of souls and realize that i need to just get out of the way, we will have success in this area. Its funny that its not until hes gone that everything Elder Hawkins said starts making sense. Turns out that he really knew what he was talking about. I feel so sheepish. but i guess that i at times need to be compelled to be humbled. I will do better. Please let me know if there is anything else I can do to better serve the mission.

We are having an open house at the stake center this weekend, with booths with all areas of the church being represented. The cubs and scouts from are
Ward are going to man the booths. I think it's probably because we have the best programs running in the stake. Maybe I'm just partial.HAHA MAybe we just rock
I am writing my testimony in one of the book of Mormons that they are giving out. It's been along time since I wrote mine down, hope it helps someone

Faith at the time his message was resieved.
I think that we all feel that way at times in our lives and at that time we re lie on faith and do what we our lead by the spirit to do.

I have also put alot of thought into what i want to be. i have been tossing around the idea of being a teacher. and came up Worth this plan. i get home in June and i will work and save money and write some music until Christmas and then i will go and get my generals done. if music doesn't work out then i will see what it takes to get into recording and production of music. those will all be elective classes. meanwhile i will get some teaching classes in and i will see what i like best. I know that i don't want to teach music, i want to teach a core subject. i have been putting alot of thought into teaching seminary! that would be super sweet. then i would be able to keep myself spiritually intact and be able to make a difference in peoples life's.

This week has Been Great, We are working really hard to help Elder Hawkins finish strong.
This week we taught Brianna McCloud, Trini Areola, and Richard Abo. Still not finding any apparent concerns, I think that Richard will open up when we are able to bring a Marshaleese brother with us.There is definitely a language barrier.
We were also able to teach the Johnson this week. They are a less active family in the ward. They struggle financially but we have promised them that by attending church they will find that things will work for there benefit.
Elder Hawkins, 7 days and counting. i can't believe it. I am Going to miss him so much. I know that he has served well and will be a great husband and father. i accredit everything that i may become as a missionary to the things he has taught me.....And the Spirit. he has helped me to develop effective study and teaching habits as well as establish a great pattern of obedience. I think that that is the primary role of a father. in the mission and outside.
I am doing so great, everything is starting to click, I have memorized about 25 scriptures in the past month and am getting better at teaching people not lessons, and recognizing the promptings of the Spirit.

How is everyone doing? We are doing good here in Nevada. I just got done looking a Skylars blog and it sounds like he is doing really good. I can't believe how much he is grown in the gospel. I even got teary eyed reading some of his letters. It is awesome to hear him always testifying and to see the love he has for the gospel and not only the gospel but for his family. As I read his letters I looked back to when he was 14 and I look at him now. What a GREAT man he has become. I am grateful to be a small part of his growing up and for the example that Skylar has set for his friends and not only his friends but also for Brother Mowers. This week we have had allot of appointments fall through. But we were able to teach Brianna Mccloud, who also attended church on Sunday, and had a great experience. She is receiving everything really well and i think that she will be ready for baptism on the 2nd of October. Bailey Tadlock is also progressing very well. He just has a really hard time getting involved because his parents arn't committed. Its so important that the parents are committed. I know that the lord set up families for those principals to be taught and the family need to be centered around the gospel.
We also began teaching a new sister named Patti who wants to get back into church but has some word of wisdom and doctrinal issues. But she has really opened up and showed us a desire to learn and as she does that i know that she will be taught by the spirit all that she needs to know.
Elder Bean is doing great. He expressed to me that he is excited to be in an area with a missionary who is ready to work. his goals are to listen to the Spirit more carefully and to not let laziness take over.

It is a wonderful Oregon day today. We have been very bust this week in initiating the Collect the elect program. We are very excited to get it under way and are ready to work! we have had alot of canceled appointments this week. But we were able to teach James McCray. he grew up very close to the church and is very invested in discovering the truth. We know that as he searches Prayerfully and Diligently he will receive his witness.
This weekend we had a ward Beef and Corn feed at which we had about 10 less active families all with friends that we were able to meet with and are working toward getting them to take the discussions. This week we have taught Ashley Bales, Who has committed to quit smoking and drinking, as well as Aj who's parole officer (funny!) will be meeting with the Bishop soon to discuss arrangements for coming to church.
I Am in awe that Elder Hawkins is going home soon. he has taught me so much. His goal for these last few weeks is to finnish strong! We are busting tail harder and harder every day. he told me that i will have companions who will not want to work and who will make disobedience seem acceptable. I have complete confidence that he is preparing me to be diligent and obedient in whatever setting might approach me.
This week i have continued to strive to be more humble and submissive, to find ways to be more obedient, as well as have a more effective study and prayer. I have come a long way and have every intention of continuing to keep moving forward until i have become everything the lord has is store for me to be. In my studies of D&C 111 i have found that even though my past is to pt it lightly, "less than commendable" haha, the lord will put to my benefit as i have consecrated my efforts to the building up of his kingdom.
This week i was able to get Elder Hawkins to give me his scripture mastery cards. i have been memorizing about 2 a day. it is my goal to have them all down by the end of the year.
This was my letter to the president, jus thought it would summerize what was up.
In one e-mail I sent him I mentioned to him that another sister missionary from our ward serving in Idaho, Cambria Stradling, will be home in 10 days.....it really did go by fast...for us...her family has a different thought on that!!!
Ya thats fast! i met her trainer at the MTC She works there.

I'm going to start the Book of Mormon again this week and I'm going to try to study all the church lessons ahead of time. AWESOME!! it will bless the fam so much. if you want a good study tool get a preach my gospel!! Ch. 3 helps me get things su much better. and i would recomend that you get a cheap one to write in. and have your good set blank so that you dont have other influences as you read! let me know what your finding in there. i would love to heare your insight.

Perhaps, it was about the sacrifice for you and the personal peace that can come from daily repentance. Maybe it was about a renewed awareness of complete obedience so that our petitions to the Lord everyday at 7:00 a.m. will merit the blessings the Lord is willing to bestow if we but ask Him. And, finally, I considered the admonition of the Lord, "If ye do what I say, I am bound. If ye do not what I say, then ye have no promise." As we did last month, we will be training again from August 31 through September 3, 2010, with four consecutive days at the same locations (Tuesday: Gresham, Wednesday: Newberg, Thursday: Milwaukie, and Friday, Hillsboro.) The meetings begin and 10 a.m. and conclude at 3:45 p.m. with a meal served to those attending. Assistants to the President, Zone Leaders, District Leaders, and current trainers are to attend (Trainers who conclude their missions in September: your attendance is optional). Bring your lesson outlines, your notebook journals, "Preach My Gospel" and your scriptures.

What kind of "culture" are the people in your area? they sound "islandy"....is it like the Mexicans here and immigration and all? Like boat people being that close to the ocean???

i will tell josh that. and there is no half and half haha. you covenented one flesh, its to late to go back now. but ok mom haha. if it makes you feel better i could call the missionaries to come over. haha. i gave dad the list. its a 5 week month so we are going the ramen road. we get paid evey month and the extra wekk can kill haha. but its not that bad it just means that we need to think, uggg. i hate thinking, I am so ecited already to apply the things that i am learning when i get home. we all created post mission plans. i will be going to school starting after the christmas when i get home. i want a few months to save some cash for school and for a family. its weid to think about that though. we had dinner with a family in the ward, the moores, that have been married for less time than me and elder hawkins have been companions, and the are 20 and 22. i would probably hang out with them back at home. its weird to think that i am getting that old! tell kylee that she need to keep a list of all the new music and movies coming out.

It is a wonderful Oregon day today. We have been very bust this week in initiating the Collect the elect program. We are very excited to get it under way and are ready to work! we have had alot of canceled appointments this week. But we were able to teach James McCray. he grew up very close to the church and is very invested in discovering the truth. We know that as he searches Prayerfully and Diligently he will receive his witness.
This weekend we had a ward Beef and Corn feed at which we had about 10 less active families all with friends that we were able to meet with and are working toward getting them to take the discussions. This week we have taught Ashley Bales, Who has committed to quit smoking and drinking, as well as Aj who's parole officer (funny!) will be meeting with the Bishop soon to discuss arrangements for coming to church.
I Am in awe that Elder Hawkins is going home soon. he has taught me so much. His goal for these last few weeks is to finnish strong! We are busting tail harder and harder every day. he told me that i will have companions who will not want to work and who will make disobedience seem acceptable. I have complete confidence that he is preparing me to be diligent and obedient in whatever setting might approach me.
This week i have continued to strive to be more humble and submissive, to find ways to be more obedient, as well as have a more effective study and prayer. I have come a long way and have every intention of continuing to keep moving forward until i have become everything the lord has is store for me to be. In my studies of D&C 111 i have found that even though my past is to pt it lightly, "less than commendable" haha, the lord will put to my benefit as i have consecrated my efforts to the building up of his kingdom.

i plan on going to school for either music production and recording. but good point with the whole weirdo thing. hahaha. good times. good times, ummm. i would say just send stuff to the mission office it is the best way. no new companion. but russia is my favorite for some weird reason. umm. so today is my 2 month mark. i will be sending home my planner from my 1st trasfer(every 6 weeks) it should be somthing cool to look through. just make sure you let howell show the quorum.umm. elder bednar is coming to the mission in a month to talk with us about how awesome the OPM is. my testimony has grown so much. i have leaned the full ward setup and how it all works. and how much inspiration is involed in every step of the lord work. well love you guys!!
oh and tell grama and pa they have a letter on the way. love you sorry i only had 15 min today. lots to do. YIKES

Doing all the typing. It's Monday morning and overcast here with a chance of rain but you know that that means there's a better chance that it won't than will.
Went to Bo's farewell yesterday and could not belive that He's leaving already. Time is just flying by here It seems like you just left. How are you doing. Any disappointments.
Stay strong and close to the lord and all will work out. I know that's what I am doing on this end. Mom got the lease for the shop so I think the lord is watching out for us and
Of course there is all kinds of support from the family. I know that we are all being blessed for your service to the people of Portland. hey dad! i just sent you a letter. i am glad to see that you guys are recognizing the blessing that come from the gospel! i hope that moms boutique is going well enough to hire me when i get back. ha ha. i cant believe that Bo's time has come. that means Ive been out almost 3 months. geese!! time flys too fast. but i am learning so much. and cant wait to see you up here. it seems life its a ways away but it will be hear before you know it. ha ha. I would say yes. i went to Vegas with him. and i have met his family. they are good people. trust me she could do a whole lot worse. he kind of annoyed me but if she like him than i say go for it. hes a good kid and is a good influence on her. i would trust him. i am just surprised that she want to go out with him.??? but hes good people.

Hey Guys. Bike is fine now. just some minor fixes. card is active and good to go. it started cooling down allot too. That's too bad about the burell boy but you have the right mind set. I haven't been able to get Hold of josh at all. i think at this point hes either not eating the mail or just ignoring it. IDK though. Things are going really good here. we are doing allot of tracking but are getting ready to start collect the elect witch is designed to get more members involved in the work. i fell off my bike 2 days ago but I'm all good. only my pride was hurt. haha. i rolled right out of it. Still getting fed every night and still gaining weight. thanks for tha satchel box. i am enjoying working out to music. FYI: there is only a few walmarts in all of the mission and they are all way out of the way. Same with sonic. i Luckly am Right next to one. but theres only 2 more in the entire mission. President dyches will be here until my year mark. Can you get me Bo's email and address so that i can talk with him please?
This week has been great. we have been teaching less than usual but we have been making them count. we have started teaching this marshalleese man named Richard Abo.
he trly has a desire to know the truth and he has been keeping all of his commitments. We have also been teaching Trini Areola. He has been taking the lessons for almost a year. He wants to be baptised but is very honest with himself and wont until he knows for asurety that these things are true. We have tried everything to help him feel that but nothing seems to be working. Dawna engleson has a simmilar situation. Only she knows these things are true but cannot quit smoking. She has recived many Blessings and has been praying dilligently. We think that we just need to focus on her testimony of the Atonment of Christ.
We have also been teacing Titus dewit and Aqua Tillman. Titus is a recent convert and Aqua is less- Active. They fight allot, usually leading to the cops being called. But we have seen the gospel change there family. they Seem to be fighting less and less and they are both looking happier every day.
I cant believe that Elder Hawkins is going home in 3 weeks. I am going to miss his example of obedience and diligence. But at the same time i am excited to change things up a little. I know that the lord has so much to teach me through the companions that i will have.
This week i had an experience that changed me. We were at a door talking to a minister for another church. He asked me what my title Elder ment. He told me that i eas not old or wise enough to have the title. Foolishly I answerd, trying not to offend him, "Elder is just a tiltle givent to missionaries who volenteer to serve." Afterwards Elder Hawkins rebuked me for being ashamed of my priesthood. So i went home and Studied out the priesthood. And through studying i came to know of the sacredness and the power and athority of my calling
well love you guys, stay strong and remember to do the simple things. they will give you the stranth you need to carry on. the gospel was designed to bring families closer together.

i plan on going to school for either music production and recording. but good point with the whole weirdo thing. hahaha. good times. good times, ummm. i would say just send stuff to the mission office it is the best way. no new companion. but russia is my favorite for some weird reason. umm. so today is my 2 month mark. i will be sending home my planner from my 1st trasfer(every 6 weeks) it should be somthing cool to look through. just make sure you let howell show the quorum.umm. elder bednar is coming to the mission in a month to talk with us about how awesome the OPM is. my testimony has grown so much. i have leaned the full ward setup and how it all works. and how much inspiration is involed in every step of the lord work. well love you guys!!

Hey, what is going on in that part of the world. We are all well here and I thought I would try to figure out how to Email you with out your Mom
Doing all the typing. It's Monday morning and overcast here with a chance of rain but you know that that means there's a better chance that it won't than will.
Went to Bo's farewell yesterday and could not belive that He's leaving already. Time is just flying by here It seems like you just left. How are you doing. Any disappointments.
Stay strong and close to the lord and all will work out. I know that's what I am doing on this end. Mom got the lease for the shop so I think the lord is watching out for us and

I am so proud of him!! he will do great!News letters are fine. She will be blessed for it. I would say yes. i went to Vegas with him. and i have met his family. they are good people. trust me she could do a whole lot worse. he kind of annoyed me but if she like him than i say go for it. hes a good kid and is a good influence on her. i would trust him. i am just surprised that she want to go out with him.??? but hes good people.
i heard that you have been doing family home evening. Thats AWESOME!!
